LORE:

The year is 18XX and three Elder Gods battle over broken and twisted Isles. The Royal Guild of Hunters are the only ones who still stand in their way. By accepting the flesh of their foes as sacrament, they are granted them immense abilities at the cost of their sanity.  You play as "The Unmarked" - a hunter tasked with purging the 'Deep Hamlets' of the One from the Depths' influence. While your hunter remains unbranded, their past continues to haunt them and they cannot run from their sins forever.
